Creating Blyth

The Creating Blyth initiative is a collaborative project dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing and social connection for patients in the Blyth area. It offers a creative and supportive outlet outside of traditional clinical settings.

Partnership and Mission

Creating Blyth is a vital partnership between Unisus Wellbeing and Railway Medical Group. The project’s core mission is twofold:

  1. Reduce Pressure: To alleviate demand on statutory health services by providing proactive, community-based support.
  2. Provide Support: To offer therapeutic support and much-needed social interaction for patients of Railway Medical Group.

What to Expect

The sessions are centered around communal creativity and peer support. Participants are invited to:

  • Create Artwork: Engage in various creative activities.
  • Support Each Other: Foster a sense of community and mutual aid.
  • Meet New Friends: Enjoy time together in a relaxed, friendly environment.

The sessions are held every Friday in both morning and afternoon slots directly at the GP practice in Blyth, making it easily accessible for patients. The sessions are run by Ian Dougall.

Project History

The Creating Blyth project originally launched in 2019. Although it was temporarily halted due to government restrictions related to COVID-19, Unisus successfully secured new funding. This allowed the valuable and enjoyable project to resume and continue supporting the community in 2023.
